"Where the mountains meet
the sea..."
The best of Costa Rica all packaged together in a small area: National
parks, secluded beaches, virgin rainforests, spectacular sunsets, spa
treatments, wildlife, adventure activities, water sports of every kind.
Dominical, long known as a world-class surfing destination, is located
approximately 25 miles south of the port of Quepos and the Manuel Antonio
National Park on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Dominical
area is one of the few unique spots along the Pacific coast of Central
America where the mountains descend into the deep blue waters of the ocean.
Kiana Dominical is part of the larger Punta Dominical development, a property
that includes 1,000 acres oceanfront and ocean view land set along more
than two miles of coastline.
Kiana Dominical is our signature resort, conveniently located near the
town of Dominical and set in perfect location where the mountains dramatically
fall into the sea. Rising from the coastline where Kiana sits, the scenic
rainforest terrain of Dominical extends to an elevation of nearly 1,000
feet. In short, Kiana’s dramatic location combined with its convenient
location will make Kiana Dominical a fantastic place to enjoy a fully-serviced,
luxury vacation home.
“People love the beach. Kiana Dominical and the rest of the Punta
Dominical properties are one of the last affordable, unspoiled oceanfront
properties in all the world. They are not making any more real estate
like this.” - Hal Wright, Managing Partner, Punta Dominical, S.
A.
Travel Details
North American travelers to Costa Rica appreciate accessibility with
no “jet lag.” San Jose, Costa Rica is only two and a half
hours from Miami. More than 20 direct flights are available daily from
U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, New York, and Atlanta.
Such accessibility has increased demand in the past ten years for Costa
Rica real estate. Situated in the Central Standard time zone, the time
in Costa Rica varies by no more than two hours from any U. S. location.
Getting to Dominical is easy. You can hop on a local 20-minute flight
to Quepos Airport on either SANSA (San Jose International Airport) or
NatureAir (San Jose Municipal Airport). From there, you can rent a car
or arrange for a local taxi for the one-hour ride to Dominical. Keep in
mind that as a result of construction on the Quepos-Dominical road, the
ride will be a bit bumpy during certain times of the year (this last leg
of the coastal highway is expected to be completed in the next 24 months).
If you have more time and wish to explore some of Costa Rica’s scenery,
you can rent a car at one of several international rental car agencies
(eg Hertz, Budget, Avis) in San Jose Downtown or Airport. The drive to
Dominical is about three to four hours, depending on time of day and which
of the two scenic routes you choose. You can go by way of Jaco/Quepos
and enjoy the coffee plantations, ranches, and palm plantations –
with a stop near Carrillo National Park and observe the crocodiles lazing
in the river. Or you can go south from San Jose, by way of historic Cartago,
the scenic and lush mountain area of Chirripo, and onto Southern Costa
Rica’s gateway town of San Isidro. Either way, you’ll not
only enjoy Costa Rica’s natural diversity, but you’ll also
have a context for why Costa Rica real estate has become an attractive
alternative in international real estate investment.
Weather
Dominical is in the southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. Located at approximately
nine degrees latitude, the weather is tropical. Temperatures do not vary
much from month to month (75 to 85 degrees F. year round). As in other
countries in the tropics, there are two predominant seasons. June through
November is the winter or rainy season. Mornings and early afternoons
are sunny, with rain showers occurring in the late afternoons and evenings.
There are few days during this season in which it actually rains all day.
Temperatures are generally in the cooler range during these months. While
rains may be heavy, hurricanes are very rare on the Pacific coast of Costa
Rica. December through May is considered the summer, or dry season. Rain
may occur from time to time, but the weather is generally dry and slightly
warmer than during the rainy season. Regardless of the season, exposure
to the sun can be intense and sunscreen and protective clothing are highly
recommended.
